Most people judge a roof from the driveway. We judge it from the ridge. That line at the top of the house is where the shingle work, the venting and the cut all come together. If the ridge is right, the rest of the roof was usually done right too. This job is a full roof replacement in our Iredell and Rowan County service area, on a brick ranch with a chimney.
What went on this roof
The homeowner needed a full tear off and a new roof, not a patch. We installed Atlas Summit underlayment across the deck, then Atlas Pinnacle Pristine architectural shingles in a multi tone color. We added a new ridge vent along the peak and replaced the pipe boots. Nothing exotic. Just the right materials installed the way the manufacturer says to install them.
- ▸Atlas Summit synthetic underlayment over the full deck
- ▸Atlas Pinnacle Pristine architectural shingles, multi tone
- ▸New ridge vent cut and installed at the peak
- ▸New pipe boots on every penetration
- ▸Full cleanup, including a magnet sweep of the yard
Why the ridge vent matters more than people think
A roof needs to breathe. Hot air rises into the attic and it has to leave somewhere. A ridge vent lets it out along the whole length of the peak, which is the highest point and the natural exit. When intake at the soffit and exhaust at the ridge are balanced, the attic stays closer to outside temperature. That protects the decking and it protects the shingles from cooking from underneath. A shingle roof installation without proper venting will age faster than the warranty expects it to.
Pipe boots are the quiet leak
The rubber collar around a plumbing vent pipe is usually the first thing on a roof to fail. It cracks from sun exposure long before the shingles wear out. Water gets in slowly and shows up on a ceiling months later. Every roof replacement we do gets new pipe boots. It is a small cost during the job and an expensive repair after it.
Why homeowners here call us
We are a local roofing company based in Mt Ulla, family owned since 2020. We work roughly thirty miles around home, from Lake Norman and Mooresville up to Statesville and down to Salisbury. We hold 5.0 stars across 96 Google reviews and an A+ rating with the BBB. We are a GAF certified installer and a HAAG certified inspector. That pair is uncommon. The GAF side means your install carries a real manufacturer warranty. The HAAG side means our inspection report holds up when an insurance adjuster reads it.
September is the month to check
Summer storms and hurricane remnants have already passed through. Leaf drop is a few weeks out. If there is wind damage on your roof, now is when you want it documented, before winter and before your insurance claim deadline runs out. A free on site inspection tells you where you stand. Sometimes the answer is a repair. Sometimes it is a new roof. We will tell you which one it is.
If cost is the question holding you up, we offer financing, and we pay a $250 referral reward when you send a neighbor our way. Roof replacement cost depends on size, pitch and what we find under the old shingles, so we give you a real number after we look, not a guess over the phone.
Book your free roof inspection in Iredell and Rowan County. We will walk the roof, take photos and give you a straight answer on whether you need a repair or a full roof replacement.
